Treehouse – In Callao Va, Near the Confluence of the Potomac and Chesapeake Bay. 864 sq ft cabin on a wooded ravine. Effectively functions off-grid and net-positive energy with PV’s on a nearby boatshed roof and an above ground cistern. The cabin sits on round cast concrete piers, overhanging a ravine, with the deck extended out between existing trees. A 12′ square grid offsets vertically to form covered outdoor spaces below upper lofts. The metal roof is folded, like a geometric leaf, funneling all rainwater to the above ground cistern. Reclaimed sugar maple and walnut clad the interior walls and form steps/shelves. No drywall or paint. Builder: Ed Larkins Photos by Ashley Twiggs
