Bellair –Renovation/addition to an early 60’s ranch house in Charlottesville, completed in 2010.  The challenge is to retain a majority of the existing structure while radically opening the interior and specific wider views to the mature landscape.  Visually, the two story bedroom addition is clearly different, but consistent detailing meshes with the existing.  Details include perpendicular patching the retained wood floor (marking the original wall layout), opening up the low flat ceiling for a vaulted living room and lowering certain window sills to form more expansive balconies.
